Abstract

Hypertension is contributory risk factor for cardiovascular disease. RAAS (Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone-System) is one of the parts that contribute in maintenance of circulatory strain and electrolytes balance. ACE (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme) is main player of RAAS system. Purpose of the study was to find ACE inhibitory activity of pineapple extract. Various dosages of the extract were utilized and ACE activity was estimated. So as to discover the contributory factor phytochemical examination of pineapple extract was done. Finding of this study shows that significantly (p<0.001) ACE inhibitory activity of pineapple extract in a dose dependent manner. Highest ability to inhibit ACE activity was seen in 500 µl extract of pineapple.

Keywords: ACE inhibitory activity, pineapple, natural ACE inhibitor
