Abstract
In this chapter, we provide a general introduction to automated decision-making (ADM) and the legal safeguards EU data protection law puts in place to protect data subjects. The GDPR’s most relevant provisions are analysed, most notably the rules stipulated in Article 22, aiming to provide a clear understanding of the legal basis and relevant conditions for ADM.
